DURING THE RACE

Please follow the instructions of both the Honorary Police and marshals; they are there to ensure your safety and the Race Organisers will disqualify runners for not following their instructions. Their support allows these events to continue so please give them a smile.

Runners wishing to listen to music and wear earphones etc. do so as their own risk; please take care and ensure you are able to hear safety instructions and other road users. We would recommend that you do not, or use one ear piece, keep the volume down or use an appropriate setting to allow you to hear.

Numbers must be worn on the front of your shirts and must be visible at all times. The numbers have chip timing responders on the rear, do not remove the foam tabs!

Whilst running on the roads and  pavements please be aware of walkers, cyclists and other members of the public, you do not have right of way and please remember to thank them if they give way.

You must run on the left side of the road, except where otherwise directed.

MEDICAL SUPPORT AND YOUR PERSONAL SAFETY

We take your safety very seriously and try to provide a safe environment for you to race in however your safety is your personal responsibility. Every year we have serious incidents and normally it is through runners not being hydrated prior to the event and not recognising vital signs of overheating / dehydration etc; please read the following advice:

Normandy Rescue will be supplying ambulance and paramedic cover during the race.

Please fill in the medical information and contact details on the reverse of your race numbers, this information could save your life in the event of a medical emergency.

Ensure you complete all personal details on registration

Ensure that you are well hydrated before race day, this should start two days ahead. (Clear urine is the standard advice)

Sip water as you wait in the start area (water is provided)

If you feel the need to drink between water stops carry your own race bottle and fill at each station.

Take time to drink at each water station - slow down and drink.

If you are feeling that your heart rate, temperature and breathing are not as you would normally expect during such a physical challenge you must STOP, cool down and decide whether you should walk, retire or carry on.
